The Princes Gate is a historical, boutique-style hotel in the centre of Rotorua. This classical 4-star hotel is opposite the Polynesian Spa and the famous Government Gardens.

The hotel has 52 stylish guestrooms and apartments, all decorated in a traditional and classical style. Each room is air-conditioned and beautifully furnished with luxurious en suite bathroom and a range of personal toiletries. The larger apartments offer a living area and kitchen facilities.

The Princes Gate Hotel, dates back to 1897 and is situated in the historical area of the city. The hotel is only 100-metres from the lakefront and city centre and is also within easy reach of the Convention Centre.

Property offers three thermally heated pools, a private plunge pool and sauna. Guest laundry facilities are available. There are a restaurant and bar on-site offering breakfast, lunch, High Tea and dinner.

Cute hotel.
The family units aren’t in the historical section of the building. Sulfur hot tub was as smelly as the name suggests!

Comfortable beds and amazing food.
The food was incredible, the historical atmosphere was amazing, the swimming pool was good, and the localisation was perfect. The bed was very clean and comfortable.From your room, you can easily access the street and your car. There is a free parking at the back street.
The curtains weren't fixed properly. The power plugs and the lights weren't working correctly. The rooms are not soundproof, and you can hear everything in other rooms.

I’m very relaxed day, excellent location for tourist attractions food was very good value.
Location was excellent at the entrance to government gardens, easy walk to the beautiful lake, Rotorua and close to the spas. Free parking, breakfast by the pool, all day lunch available too
Bathrooms are very tired, dining room was very tired but easy to take food to the courtyard which was delightful.

Wonderful
Love the history of both the hotel and its immediate surroundings. Excellent location. Absolutely love the variety of decor - the big leather chesterfield sofas by the fireplace, the Louis (style) dining chairs and formal look of the dining room, mixed with a more contemporary spa and courtyard. It feels like it’s acknowledging the eras the hotel has seen rather than being a museum to one narrow time period. It feels lived in and warm.
The room we were in had quite a small bathroom.
